The discovery of a gigantic shark Fossil iPhone case the length of a two-story drafting has been announced.
Led by Paul A. Frederickson, a group of amateur paleontologists stumbled on the ancient 22-foot time consuming shark FOSSIL iPhone 5 while on a field jaunt in the Duck Creek of Mississippi. The find was made in 2009 on the other hand a research paper was only nowadays published in PLOS One Record.
According to co-author Frederickson, University for Oklahoma doctoral candidate in ecology and evolutionary biology, the koi would have respresented one of the biggest predators of era.
The shark fossil, Leptostyrax macrorhiza, may cause back scientists in which to revist estimates of when such massive predatory sharks first transformed into.
A similar fossil found in 1997 active in the Kiowa Shale area of Kansas, extends back about 100 million years ago toward the Mesozoic Era. That particular fossil wasfrom a shark estimated to be a great deal as 32 feet long.
In an meet with Livescience. com, Kenshu Shimada, the DePaul University paleobiologist that found the 1997 shark, spoken of the remains:
"It is also very likely that they may belong to an extinct shark with very small teeth so far never ever recognized in the present fossil record. For instance , some of the largest modern-day sharks are undoubtedly plankton-feeding forms with minute mouth, such as the whale shark, basking shark and megamouth shark. "
Frederickson noted that these megasharks roamed the ocean in gangs, and potentially could possibly have eaten just about anything in size uo to twenty feet.
